Henderson Town Centre Plan

A cross disciplinary internal team was formed, based in a small studio in the town centre. As the design and capability coach I led the team through in-depth interviews in peoples homes, intercepts and observation of users in the town centre. A number of local experts were also interviewed. A picture began to emerge and our understanding deepened. Personas, user journeys and models enabled us to digest and share learnings. Factors associated with safety in Henderson Town Centre were identified and then began the process of designing potential solutions to create key strategic shifts. Full documentation of the learnings and corresponding ideas formed the Safer Henderson Town Centre Plan which was subsequently endorsed by Henderson-Massey Local Board who allocated $91,000 towards community safety initiatives.
